Abstract

The attenuation of hypersonic waves and the hypersonic velocity have been measured in rather concentrated (8 M) aqueous solutions of lithium chloride in the temperature range 100–300 K by Brillouin light-scattering techniques The dispersion observed at frequencies around 10 GHz may be explained with a simple rate process at higher temperatures and with viscoelastic behavior below 250 K
