Abstract

The light scattering spectra of dense monatomic gases are determined from a kinetic model of the Enskog equation in which the reference distribution function is a function of the gradients of velocity and temperature. A good agreement between the theoretical and experimental light scattering spectra is found for values of the pressure going from 0.022 to 10 atm , which correspond to the free molecular and hydrodynamic regimes, respectively.
