Abstract

The amount of light collected and transmitted by cylindrical fibres with numerical apertures of 1·17, 1·0, 0·8, 0·56 has been calculated for the condition where the entrance or exit face is not perpendicular to the axis of the fibre. From these results the variation in transmission across a fibre optic faceplate with one spherical face has been determined. The results are presented graphically.
