Abstract

The tunneled LiFeTiO4, with calcium ferrite structure type was investigated through chemical lithium intercalation and deintercalation to provide insight on the structural stability for multiple electron transfer. Structural stability on Li+ deintercalation indicate the feasibility of Fe3+/Fe4+ cathode materials. The tunnel LiFeTiO4 phase is metastable and transforms upon heating to the known polymorph with a spinel structure as determined by thermogravimetric analysis and powder X-ray diffraction methods.
