Abstract

The lifetimes of the 4.623 and the 4.688 MeV levels in 34S have been measured with the Doppler-shift attenuation method. A complete lineshape analysis has been performed on the basis of a description of the stopping process of the recoiling nuclei, which is an extension of the Blaugrund method. The following lifetimes have been found: τ (4.623 MeV) = 145 ± 50 fs, τ (4.688 MeV) = 110 ± 20 fs.
