Abstract

ConclusionThe reactivity of Rydberg states is of interest due to their large radius but the practical use of them is limited by their rapid decays by predissociation and, above the first ionization limit, by autoionization. The most stable Rydberg levels are those with very high values of n and their possible stabilization by an electric field makes possible their use in chemical reactions.
