Abstract

Lifetime measurements of the excited states of 192Pt were carried out by delayed coincidence measurements between the β-spectrum of 192Ir and the conversion lines that de-excite the levels, using a double-lens coincidence spectrometer. The mean lifetimes of the 3 + 921 keV and the 4 + 784.5 keV levels were determined as τ = 30.7 ± 3 psec and 8.7 ± 2.5 psec, respectively. Good agreement was attained for the experimental energies and the mode of de-excitation of the low energy states with the predictions of the asymmetric rotational model by using the parameters μ = 0.355 and γ = 29°.
