Abstract

The lifetimes of excited states in neutron-rich nuclei around the doubly-magic nucleus 48Ca have been measured using a novel technique that combines the Recoil Distance Doppler Shift method with the CLARA-PRISMA spectrometers. This is the first time such a method is applied to measure lifetimes of neutron-rich nuclei populated via a multinucleon transfer reaction. The experimental method will be discussed and the results for Ca nuclei will be compared with realistic simulations of the CLARA and PRISMA spectrometers.
