Abstract

Populations of Platyptilia carduidactyla (Riley) were studied in Castroville and Carmel Valley, CA, during spring and fall 1977–78. Factors contributing to the mortality of P. carduidactyla are presented in life tables and discussed. The egg-instar 1 was identified as the critical age interval, and drowning and predation were the critical lethal factors. Two fertility schedules were compiled for the laboratory development of the plume moth through adult egg-laying and death.
