Abstract

The reviewed literature is an attempt to describe the use of life skills as an approach to teach English as a foreign language in junior and senior high schools in Indonesia. The purpose of using this approach is to influence students’ interest in learning elements of English language subject which are recommended by curriculum. Dealing with the issue of life skills for teaching English, it can encourage English teachers to investigate the evidential condition of schools and students. The authors of this review ask questions in terms of the effectiveness of teaching English subject with life skills approach, and the students’ attitude towards the teaching and learning English through life skills, and how the life skills influence teachers and students in teaching-learning process.
