Abstract

This book was published in March 1852, and a second edition was called for in September, 1852. In a preface to the second edition the author expresses extreme satisfaction that his biography of John Reid was so well received. George Wilson, though he had the degree of MD, practiced as a chemist; he says in the preface: trust that the memory of a great Anatomist and Physiologist will not be deemed the less appropriate, that it proceeds from the pen of a Chemist. Wilson was a friend of Reid, about whom he published some verses after his death. He was already known as a writer through hisLife and Works of Henry Cavendish.
