Abstract

Using data from the Caribbean, Central and South America network for HIV epidemiology (CCASAnet), Casey Smiley and colleagues1 analysed life expectancy in 30 688 people with HIV starting antiretroviral therapy (ART) across Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Haiti, Honduras, Mexico, and Peru, and found remarkable increases in life expectancy at age 20 years between 2003–08 and 2013–17: from 13·9 years to 61·2 years in Haiti and from 31·0 years to 69·5 years at other sites.
