Abstract

The characteristics of the corrugated steel plate culvert (such as mechanics, applicability, economy, etc.) are analyzed and the Life Cycle Cost (LCC) approach is put forward to analysis the initial, maintenance and recycling cost of it. Then the total LCC of this type of culvert is compared to the masonry and reinforced concrete culvert. The results show that the LCC value is reduced compare to the initial cost. This type of structure is superior to the traditional masonry or reinforced concrete culverts when considering the LCC approach. In addition, using corrugated steel plate culvert instead of the masonry or reinforced concrete culvert will make contribution to the environmental and ecological protection.
