Abstract

In this paper a life cycle analysis of coal-fired power generation and CO2 emission in China is conducted. The life cycle of coal-fired power generation includes coal mining, processing, transport and electric generation. It concludes that the life cycle of CO2 emission of coal-fired power generation in China is 1.02kg/kWh. The main factors affecting CO2 emission are pointed out based on sensitivity analysis. Net coal consumption is the most sensitive factor and is therefore the main contributor of CO2 emission. Raw coal and electricity consumption during coal mining as well as gross coal consumption are also major contributors.
