Abstract

Based on life cycle assessment, the paper assessed the CO2 avoided cost and cost of electricity (COE) of the power generation technologies, including coal-fired power plant with CO2 capture and storage (CCS), wind power, solar PV, and biomass-fired power plant. The results show that COE, CO2 avoided cost of 800 MW USCPC + CCS is competitive comparing with renewable energy power. COE of USCPC + CCS is almost same with that of wind power, and much lower than that of biomass and solar PV. CO2 avoided cost of USCPC with CCS is a little higher than that of wind power, and much lower than that of biomass and solar PV
