Abstract
The article is devoted to the study of the personality, life, activities and basic principles of the excursion method of the outstanding scientist Nikolai Pavlovich Antsiferov. N.P. Antsiferov was the founder of a comprehensive method for studying the urban environment as an integral historical and cultural organism, the author of the concept of the “soul of the locality”. His developments in urban studies, recommendations for the construction and conduct of excursions in our time are the most powerful methodological base in this field of activity. The purpose of the work is to get acquainted with the biography of N.P. Antsiferov, to identify the conditions for the formation of his personality, to study the main ideas and principles of the Antsiferov excursion method.
