Abstract

The multiphoton selective excitation of linear triatomic molecules is studied by using a Lie algebraic approach. The vibrational transition probability and the long-time averaged vibrational transition probability, which are functions of external field frequency and time for HCN and DCN molecules, are discussed. The selective vibrational excitation of the target states in chirped and shaped infrared laser fields is obtained as well.
