License Plate Detection and Recognition using Convolutional Neural Network

Abstract

Vehicle Number Plate Detection and Recognition system are very helpful and necessary for efficient traffic monitoring and management. From various angles, the interested vehicle's images can be captured by using some of the strong image processing technique devices for the growth of the smart transport system. Identifying the number plates with the side view images, images with moving distance, numbering, and the number plate type by identifying the background can be improved by using a recognition technique that may contain the combination of the image processing technology combined with neural networks. The tilted images and side view images of moving vehicles can be identified by using a neural network. This can be further useful for the identification of vehicle owners, vehicle model identification, controlling the traffic, controlling the vehicle speed, and tracking of vehicle location. Some algorithms like super-resolution of images can be used for the improvement of low-resolution images. In the future, to gain a better accuracy rate, high-resolution cameras can be used which contain high frames.
