In order to make libraries meaningful, vibrant, exciting, interesting and accessible to all, the technology must be linked with the libraries pursuit. The ultra-modern technologies are capable enough to overcome the national borders and may lead to navigation towards global dissemination. In the 21st century, the Gen ‘Z’ users need information by hook and crook. They are less concerned with ethics. Realising the crucial role of up-to-date information services for conducting good research activities, the libraries beyond borders can really prove fruitful. It has become possible through World Wide Web; thereby many more forthcoming nascent technologies may be imagined in library pursuits like cloud computing for libraries, (1) building mobile applications for libraries, (2) Drupal in libraries, (3) location awareness services and QR services for libraries, (4) IM & SMS reference services, (5) semantic web technologies and social searching in libraries, (6) strategic planning for social media in libraries, (7) next generation redesign library, (8) user experience design for libraries and(9) screening cast for libraries. Latest technologies ensure the accessibility of library material 24×7 throughout the year. Indeed, the user communities are being expected that the required contents must be available on single platform and access with single click without any hindrance or technological limitations. The continuity of global dissemination of information is another challenge in front of the library professionals, as day by day the budding technologies are emerging; thereby sustainability stands as challenge. Undoubtedly, technology has broken the national boundaries and library boundaries itself, however are the libraries working fully on desktop, tablet or mobile apps. To cope up with these challenges, the role of library is indispensable. Since inception, libraries are the source of authentic information and sustain with the primary objective to impart the desired information to end user in minimum possible time. The technology is doing the same work. In future, we can imagine the libraries in single chip which shall be accessible offline also.
