Abstract

Librarians are playing a vital role in storing and managing the data in libraries. The very purpose of this data is to convert information into knowledge; then only, the stored data come into use by its users. Here, the role of librarians is to know how to convert and process data in the order of knowledge creation. It means the librarians should get expertise in how to make big data sets more meaningful in using by its users. Due to the emergence of data in a very big way, the users’ requirements also increase; therefore, they can choose different ways to access the data in search of required information. In this paper, we discussed the availability of data in different formats and how this data is relevant and applicable to big-data technology. Moreover, some of the issues in application of library data to big-data technology are also discussed.
