Abstract

Chapter 6 goes through the way Black intellectual and knowledge traditions in Los Angeles immediately and consistently identified the perpetuator of terror within their communities as the state—and thus were made irrational by the violent logics of western imperial endeavors. Black intellectual traditions were (and continue to be) crucial in assessing the root logics of western philosophical traditions that are predicated upon and make normative the violent exploitative tendencies of western imperialism. A key aspect in the archives of Black communal organizing were the connections that were forged via Black communities across geographic borders. These connections revealed a systematic effort to displace Black people from the land, extraction of resources and a suppression of Black knowledge traditions; all facilitated by processes of state governance at the behest of racial capitalist interests.
