Abstract

This article, by the Director of the Telecommunications Division of the Chinese Ministry of Electronics Industry, examines and questions the case for a telecommunications monopoly in China. The article also describes how the ministries of Electronics Industry, Electric Power and Railways are working with the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications to find appropriate ways to introduce competition through initiatives such as Lian Tong (the China United Communications Corporation).
