Abstract
REE N°2/2015 67 L'HYDROGENE DOSSIER 1 L’hydrogene vecteur energetique Potentiel et enjeux : une mise en perspective Par Jean-Francois Gruson1 , Pierre Marion2 Directeur expert1 , Ingenieur economiste2 IFP Energies nouvelles It is now widely accepted that alternative fuels will play an increasingly important role in the coming decades, particularly in light of the objectives of the EU in terms of growth, competitiveness, decarboni- sation of transport and diversification of energy sources (specifically to reduce dependence of the transport sector almost exclusively dependent on oil today). Beyond its traditional use as a chemical “booster” in industry process like future BTL pathways, Hydrogen as an energy carrier of the 21st century, despite its inherent advantages (little or no direct discharges associated with its use), is still full uncertainties both economically and energetically. As for the electric vehicles, its interest in addressing the issue of climate change in the transport sector will directly depend on the selected process (SMR or electrolysis) and on the evolution of the electric mix, which will also affect the interest of a hydrogen storage industry fo
