Abstract

AbstractKurt Lewin (pronouncedlə‐veen) is universally recognized as the founder of modern social psychology, a pioneer in organizational and applied psychology, and an influential figure across the social and behavioral sciences. He was among the first researchers to study social influence, group dynamics, and organizational development. He was a practical theorist and an applied researcher whose work focused on understanding and solving social and organizational issues such as religious and racial discrimination, intergroup relations, conflict, morale, leadership, and employee productivity. Among his many pioneering contributions to social science were action research, field theory and force field analysis, and the study of group dynamics. He was an early advocate of using both field and laboratory experimentation to examine social behavior.
