Abstract

In the Belle II experiment, the target of Level-1 trigger system (TRG) is to select various types of physics events with high efficiency and limited processing time by using FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) chips to summarize online information. The system utilizes the data from the Central Drift Chamber (CDC) detector to validate real-time charged particle fast tracking algorithms, which is critical for some of the trigger decision conditions in Belle II. In the paper, we will focus on the sub-systems associated with CDC detector and introduce the hardware design, tracking algorithms, and the performance in the cosmic ray test and SuperKEKB phase-2 collision in 2018.
