Abstract

The odd-$A$ Rb isotopes $^{83}\mathrm{Rb}$ and $^{85}\mathrm{Rb}$ are studied in a semimicroscopic model which couples the proton quasiparticle motion in the $Z=28\ensuremath{-}50$ shell to the quadrupole vibrations of the neighboring even core. The agreement between the calculated and experimental level spectra, spectroscopic factors, and electromagnetic transition rates is found to be satisfactory. The scope of further theoretical study is discussed in the light of recent experimental findings.NUCLEAR STRUCTURE $^{83,\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}85}\mathrm{Rb}$; calculated levels, $J$, $\ensuremath{\pi}$, $B(E2)$, $B(M1)$, $\ensuremath{\tau}$, $\ensuremath{\gamma}$ branching.
