Abstract

Abstract Levels of human growth hormone (hGH) in urine samples were determined by a highly specific and sensitive sandwich enzyme immunoassay, which had little cross-reaction with human luteinizing hormone, human follicle-stimulating hormone, human thyroid-stimulating hormone and human prolactin. The volume of urine samples used was 0.05 ml. Urine hGH levels in normal subjects, aged less than 2 yr, 2-5 yr, 6-15 yr and 28-35 yr (male) were 78-113, 19-51, 7.8-25 and 1.1-5.2 ng/g of creatinine, respectively. In dwarfism patients aged 6-15 yr, urine hGH levels were < 0.2-6.0 ng/g of creatinine.
