Abstract

This study aims to know the level of awareness and implementation of multicultural education in secondary schools. Furthermore, it tries to determine the significant relationship between the level of awareness and the extent of implementation of multicultural education. The researcher used the descriptive correlation design, the descriptive survey method of research which describes the awareness of the teachers and how they adapt the implementation of the Multicultural Education. The respondents were five teachers from selected DEP-Ed and private schools namely; Liceo De Cagayan University, Southern Philippine College, Pilgrim College, Misamis Oriental General Comprehensive High School, Bulua National High School and Cagayan De Oro High School. The data gathered from the respondents were treated and interpreted using the percentage frequency distribution which was used in describing the profile of the respondents, while weighted mean was used to determine the teacher’s level of awareness of multicultural education. multicultural education is highly practice among the schools which entails their effort in promoting diversity and embracing the different backgrounds of each student. (Margaret Mead, 2000).Both public and private school teachers should continue to implement the principles of multicultural education in the school. Teachers should enhance their implementation on empowering school culture by attending trainings, workshops and other academic endeavors. Keywords: Level of Awareness Multicultural Education
