Abstract

The level 1 emergency ultrasound course is held in various locations including London and Cambridge. This article relates to the course I attended at St Helier Hospital in Sutton. The level 1 emergency ultrasound course is the first step in achieving competency in level 1 emergency ultrasound. The College of Emergency Medicine now recommends that all trainees in emergency medicine should be competent in level 1 emergency ultrasound by specialty training year 5. The course covers both the knowledge and practical skills required to achieve this. Although the course is aimed mainly at emergency medicine trainees, surgical trainees and foundation doctors also attended.
