Abstract

Riparian forests are forest systems established naturally in bands on the banks of rivers, streams, reservoirs, springs and around the lakes. The riparian vegetation has essential benefits for the balance of the ecosystem and maintaining biodiversity. The aim of the study was to conduct a floristic survey of riparian vegetation of the Mucuri river, in the urban area of the municipality of Nanuque/MG in order to support conservation programs of vegetation, in view of the history of urbanization and extraction plant. The floristic survey was carried out qualitative and quantitative form in an Atlantic Forest area by permanent plots method. Over 56 installments was quantified 2.215 individuals of 97 species belonging to 85 genera and 36 botanical families, of this total, 59 species are exotic (60,82%), and 38 native biome (39,18%).
