Abstract

In the scenario of renewable energy, Brazil has an important role, especially the biodiesel production chain that is growing, but its feasibility depends on the source material still adequate. An alternative source material is the crambe ( Crambe abyssinica Hochst), but little is known about this culture. Thus was determined the survey of the diseases that may limit production in western Parana . The disease survey was conducted by the sanity of two fonts of seeds and the field survey of diseased plants. In the two fonts of seed were evaluated incidence of fungi and bacteria, and in the commercial seed, bacteria were predominant in 20% of the seeds, and in seed obtained directly from the producer, there was highest incidence of fungi, predominantly Penicillium sp. In the survey of plant diseases in the field were identified Fusarium sp. causing damping off in seedlings, X. campestris causing black rot, and Alternaria sp. spots in adult plants. The assessment used for seed and knowledge of the pathogens associated with culture are important to allow the development of appropriate management and a more effective control of these diseases in culture.
