Abstract

A 26-day-old, full-term boy was admitted to Xinhua Hospital (Shanghai, China) in December, 2021, with 1-week abdominal distention and poor feeding. Physical examination revealed a visibly enlarged abdomen and several cutaneous purpuric lesions on his trunk. Laboratory examinations revealed thrombocytopenia (platelets 66 × 109 cells per L) and cholestasis (total bilirubin 155·68 μmol/L; conjugated bilirubin 69·24 μmol/L). Abdominal ultrasound and MRI showed choledochal and intrahepatic bile duct dilation and pancreatic head and bilateral kidney enlargement (figure A; appendix).
