Abstract

We need highly motivated midwives with a committed interest on perineal care Frustrated? So are we! We have been part of a midwifery-led research group aiming to compare the short- and long-term effects of suturing and non-suturing of second-degree tears following normal vaginal delivery. Our initial pilot study has shown that by working in small groups recruitment is slow. We therefore wondered how many midwives nationally would be interested in recruiting women to a cohort study to compare the effectiveness of suturing versus non-suturing of second-degree perineal tears.
