Abstract

Abstract The American pianist and composer, Philip B. Perry (1859-1953) studied music in Europe during the early 1880s. While in Germany, he met such well-known musicians as Eugen d'Albert, Ludwig Deppe, Karl Klindworth, and Franz Liszt. Perry wrote descriptions of these encounters which were published several years later in Perry's Musical Magazine. Excerpts of these letters have been edited for this article.
