Abstract

I read with great admiration the study conducted by Kempen et al [1]. The authors aimed to characterize the relation between pulmonary function tests and scoliosis severity in children and adolescents with idiopathic scoliosis; Kempen et al. highlight the relevance of minimizing curve progression in children with idiopathic scoliosis. The study has significant clinical relevance and will generate new experimental studies (eg, clinical trials) on pulmonary function in children and adolescents with untreated idiopathic scoliosis; therefore, I have some suggestions for the authors and other researchers who will use this paper to perform further studies.
