Abstract

Abstract The structure of P-filaments produced from Salmonella flagellins in vitro has been studied by X-ray diffraction. No regular layer-line reflection appeared on the X-ray diffraction patterns, suggesting that practically no order exists in the arrangement of the flagellin molecules. The cross-β structure is predominant in the P-filament.
