Abstract

This chapter showcases Plato's letter to Hermias, Erastus, and Coriscus. Plato encourages Hermias, Erastus, and Corsicus to acknowledge each other and benefit each other in the greatest things. Hermias was told that he is expected to benefit the most from steadfast friends with healthy character instead of relying simply on military alliance or gold. Coriscus and Erastus are strongly urged to support Hermias and should they have a conflict, they should write to Plato. The chapter cites that Plato seemed optimistic about the relationship between Hermias, Erastus, and Coriscus as they are expected to do good things if a god should be willing.
