Abstract

IT IS of interest to know what is occurring in the dermatology societies of other countries. Allow me to introduce the Japanese Dermatological Association (JDA) and its annual meetings. The total number of JDA members is 7720, including 3892 specialists in dermatology who were approved by the Dermatology Specialists Committee of the JDA before 1993. To be accepted as a member of the JDA, one must be a physician and obtain letters of endorsement from two members of the Council of the JDA, which consists of 194 councillors elected by members of the JDA in each of four areas of Japan.
