Abstract

We have read with great interest the report by Lee et al1 on the relationship of the physiological response to exercise and asymmetrical wall thickening in healthy army recruits. They evaluated the variations in myocardial wall thickness using cardiovascular magnetic resonance after the exercise period of 12 weeks and concluded that asymmetrical septal hypertrophy develops commonly as part of the physiological response to exercise. In this report, a 40% smoking range was reported in the study group.
