Abstract

We read with great interest the recent article by Lopez et al,1 in Circulation Arrhythmia and Electrophysiology , on roles of blood lipid levels asnd lipid-lowering therapy for the incidence of atrial fibrillation. Their conclusion that higher levels of total cholesterol and low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol are associated with a lower incidence of atrial fibrillation is consistent with the results of our previous study indicating the existence of “cholesterol paradox” in atrial fibrillation.2,3 …
