Abstract

AbstractThe lethal cell number for transplant mouse lymphoma dosage‐response time experiments was studied by indirect methods based on extrapolation of the dose‐response curve and upon measurement of liver and spleen weight changes. The liver and spleen appear to represent the major sites for tumor cell proliferation for the LSA tumor following intravenous injection. Weight changes were very similar and independent of initial cell dose in the dose range studied, consistent with the concept of a critical cell population number in the postulated model for lymphomatous tumor cell growth. Differences from the extrapolated lethal number based on the dose‐response curve compared to the measured organ weight changes as well as a response time variance decreasing with nominal cell dose are discussed.
