Abstract
This article provides a comprehensive analysis of the lessor liability for damage resulting from an aviation accident. To provide a structured analysis, this article will address the issue of liability under two headings: liability to passengers with specific analysis of the applicable US legislation and case law and liability to third parties on the ground, using the applicable Norwegian legislation to support the analysis. Additionally, this article will give close attention to the legal mechanisms available to the lessors in avoiding or reducing their liability for damage resulting from an aviation accident
