Abstract

In August 2022, when heavy rains led to localized flooding and damaged the O.B. Curtis Water Treatment Plant in Jackson, Miss., the city faced a drinking water crisis. This was combined with a malfunction of the pumps at the J.H. Fewell Water Treatment Plant. Ohio water professionals were among many deployed to get services back online, and in the process, they learned unforgettable lessons in the value of utility mutual aid and public service.
