Abstract

Not so long ago if you heard the words “Chicago” and “strike” together you might have imagined grainy black‐and‐white photos of blue collar workers striking to protest some form of unfair or oppressive working conditions. Fast forward to the 21st century: Today's images of strikes in Chicago are of highly educated white collar workers—school teachers walking picket lines in the middle of winter. Times are changing.
