Abstract
In this article, the author shares the perspective of an inside informant who knows the Brazilian culture well. The author first describes Brazil as a country. Then, she discusses the Brazilian educational system and how special education fits into that system. Next, the author briefly discusses the Brazilian cultural context and barriers to successful inclusion of students with disabilities. The author concludes by offering thoughts about lessons that can be learned from the Brazilian inclusive special education system.
