Abstract

Carbon capture and storage (CCS) can help mitigate climate change on a global scale. This article examines the 26 CCS facilities currently in operation around the world that have safely captured and stored 300 million metric tonnes of carbon dioxide. These facilities demonstrate that the technology has successfully been deployed to scale and can safely capture and store carbon dioxide. This article shares the lessons learned that will help guide the future deployment of more projects.
