Lessening the Burden of Individualized Responsibility in the Socio-technical World. Contemporary practices of knowing take place in increasingly complex, distributed and dynamic socio-technical environments. To the introduction of informed consent in the realm of medicine, the availability of detailed information regarding the terms of service can be seen as a form of responsibility shedding rather than as a form of user/client empowerment. Given this situation, what can be done to enable and support epistemically responsible behavior and to distribute the burden of responsibility fairly?
