Abstract
Organizational efforts in the Latino community during the last ten years have contributed positively to the self-image of Latina lesbians and gay men, have given them affirmative role models, and have helped end feelings of isolation. The author documents the cultural norms of Latinos, and demonstrates how this pattern was instrumental in bringing about positive acceptance of Latina lesbians and gay men by their families. The integration of Latino lesbian and gay organizations with other Latino organizations addressing problems facing the whole Latino community is emphasized. Finally, the next steps to be taken in the collective struggle are identified.
