Abstract
In this article the author, who is director of the Statistical Office of the Church in Spain, uses the data of an inquiry made in 1961 among all the seminarians in Spain. He studies the qualitative aspects of vocations to the priesthood such as the influence of the family, the family com position, rural or urban background, level of education etc., and also the phenomenon of leaving before ordination. These evaluations could con tribute to a better understanding of the trends and problems of vocations to the priesthood in Spain.
