Abstract

Most archaeological findings in Cyprus are tombs. Many necropolises have been located, but it is still difficult to understand the precise actions of the burial process. The place devoted to children in the Cypriote necropolises is even less well known. This article gathers information retrieved from publications, monographs, articles and archaeological chronicles which mention the presence of a child in Cypriote tombs of the Age of the City-Kingdoms. Several methods of burial have been recognized, in particular that of laying the child on the floor beside his elders. Other customs reflect more restricted, regional practices.
